Easter 2016

We had a wonderful time celebrating Easter this year. We even colored Easter Eggs...

...the only thing is, we dyed the wrong eggs!  I had boiled eggs earlier in the morning.  When it was time to dye the eggs, the kids pulled the wrong eggs out of the fridge.  I didn't notice until all the raw eggs were dyed and we were all cleaned up!

Grandma and Grandpa Haacke hosted an egg hunt this year while the cousins were in town for their Spring Break.  They each had to find 12 eggs with their name on it.  Some of the boys had a harder time than other.

It took McKay a while to find all of his eggs.  In fact, he was the last one done.  Uncle Paul had been particularly tricky hiding one of McKay's eggs in the rain gutter.

Jaxon had better luck finding his eggs.  He even gave me a big thumbs up!

Josh checking to see if the found egg belonged to him.  (For some reason his arm was hurting this day so he thought it was necessary to wear the sling from the dress up box.)

Kayden and Marissa having a good time searching for eggs together.

On Easter Sunday the Easter Bunny did a few things differently at our house.  Some of the household members are trying to stay away from candy, so the Easter Bunny hid Easter Baskets full of fun favorite things of each of the boys.

Checking out their loot.

The boys liked the new tradition of hidden Easter baskets and put in a request for the Easter Bunny to continue on this tradition in years to come.

Brian Regan

Santa brought us tickets to go see the comedian Brian Regan for Christmas.  Three months later, we were able to go!  We had a good time laughing together enjoying all of the jokes.

What a fun memory!

Provo City Temple Open House

In December of 2010,  historic LDS Provo Tabernacle caught fire and was destroyed.  The community was crushed.  We were all sad to see it burn.  When our prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, announced the tabernacle would be rebuild into a temple in October 2011, we all rejoiced!  It was exciting to see the tabernacle rise from the ashes into a beautiful temple.  We were able to visit the temple and see it before it was dedicated.  It is absolutely beautiful!

We were able to attend the open house with Grandma and Grandpa Haacke and cousins Sara and Becca.  It was a nice day (despite McKay's silliness in the bottom left picture).

The whole gang at the end of the temple tour.

Sarlacc Cake

Jeremy and Kayden made this cake for the Blue and Gold Banquet for Cub Scouts.  They decided to go with a Star Wars theme (since Star Wars has been the big thing around here lately) and made the Sarlacc from Return of the Jedi.  Boba Fett can even be seen being eaten by the Sarlacc.  They had a lot of fun making it and it turned out really well.  It was the hit of the night!

Spurs Game

Jaxon was finally able to go and watch his beloved Spurs play up at Vivint Arena against the Jazz.  Jaxon was given four box seat tickets for Christmas to the game so Josh (who has turned loyal to the Spurs), McKay (who went to give Josh and Jaxon a bad time) and Jeremy went with Jaxon.  They had a good time watching the game (the Spurs won) and enjoying all the free snacks that came with the box seats.

Lemonade Play

Kayden's class put on a play with the rest of the second grade. Kayden played the part of a billy goat.   It was a fun little show to watch and Kayden had a good time doing it.

He sure makes one cute billy goat!

He is lining up to deliver his part with the other billy goats.

Happy billy goat.

Saying his part, "That nasty little troll!"

Singing his little heart out.

Basketball Season 2015-2016

This basketball season definitely had it's ups and downs.  It was fun to go to all of my boys' games and to cheer them on.  Jaxon's team did better than last year, but they lost a lot of close games.  We were able to go as a family to a few of his games that weren't too late at night to watch Jaxon play.

This particular night, Jaxon had two games within a couple of hours.  So McKay decided to carry Jaxon to the car so he wouldn't get worn out.  Jaxon had lost the first game and won the second one.  His team actually played quite well in this tournament.

Cousin Sara was able to come see the game that night too.

McKay decided that since Jaxon didn't need him to carry him to the car after the second game, he would carry Kayden instead.

As you know from an earlier post,  McKay made the Lone Peak sophomore team.  It was definitely a learning experience.  He didn't a lot of playing time and that was hard.  He went from staring on the Jr. High team and winning a championship to hoping for a few playing minutes a game.  I guess that is what they call building character.

His last home game.  He is number 42.

We will have to see what next year will bring.  McKay has already decided it wasn't worth being on the Lone Peak team and not playing.  He wants to play intramural ball with his buddies next year.  As for Jaxon, he is looking to stay busy with something basketball during the off season and is looking forward to playing ball for the Jr. High next year.

Josh enjoyed this season playing with some of his best friends.  Jeremy was his coach again this year.

We had an end of season party at our house where Jeremy had awards for all the boys.  They also had fun playing basketball and eating pizza.
