Driving Lessons Begin
Jaxon passed his written drivers test, received his driving permit and can now start learning to drive. However, he wouldn't drive home from the Driver License Bureau--thank goodness!

Battle of the Books
Kayden participated in Battle of the Books at school with some of his buddies. They had to read a list of 20 books and then answer questions about the books along with knowing the author's name. He and his team did really well. In fact they did better than any other third grade team in school history. They were super bummed when they were beat out in the final rounds by a fourth grade team.
Team Blue Tigers: Kayden, Ian, Dawson, Jake and Tyson
They had such a great time battling the books that they have all agreed to do it together again next year!

Prom 2017
McKay went to Prom this year and had a great time with his date and with the rest of his group. He asked a girl named Lexi by stacking a bunch of Solo cups on her doorstep with a sign that said "PROM?" She answered him back with an impressive lollipop poster.
McKay snagged all the lollipops and stuffed them in his backpack so he could enjoy them while at school.
During the day date they went to Provo Beach resort and did some surfing as well as some other activities. Before the dance in the evening they came to our house for pictures and then went to dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant. They then drove up to the Utah State Capitol where the dance was being held. They had a great time at the dance even though McKay forgot his prepaid dance ticket and a girl in his group lost one of her shoes. (I'm sure there is a good story with that.) Here are the pictures they took at our house before the dance:

What a good looking couple!
I would have loved to have seen Lexi attempt to climb that apricot tree in her fancy gown!

Wax Museum Kayden Style
All my boys have either participated in a Time Machine or Wax Museum project while in third grade. They study a person from history, write a report about that person and then they dress up and act like that person like they are in a museum. This was our final year to experience the Wax Museum and Kayden did not disappoint. He studied Babe Ruth and learned quite a bit. We enjoyed learning about Baby Ruth from Kayden at his Wax Museum:

Champs
McKay decided this year that his time would be better spent and that he would have more fun playing basketball with his buddies. They formed a team and had a great season playing together. They even won the league championship.
Top: Tyler, McKay and Parker. Bottom: Coach Boren, Corey, Joe, Toshi, Parker, Alec and Guest Assistant Coach Taylor. (I love that their champion shirts are traffic cone orange!)

February Harvest
We had a warm spell this February so I decided to pull everything left over from the fall out of my garden. This was a huge demented carrot that I pulled. It was devilish looking. I guess that's what happens when you harvest in February.

Weekend in the Mountains
For President's Day Weekend we were invited by our friends and neighbors to their cabin for some rest and relaxation as well as some escape from screen time and electronics. It was a great weekend full of friends, food, games and fun.
They boys (and even the moms) enjoyed spending time in the hot tub. They even took the polar bear challenge:
The next morning they boys went out and played in the snow an made forts for a snowball fight.
Looks like the boys on the deck had the advantage over the boys down below. Regardless it was a great snowball fight and a great weekend.

McKay and all his craziness.
Jaxon's turn. I like his somersaults.
Josh and Kayden took a turn as well, but weren't quite as crazy.
