Team Roadkill

McKay had a great basketball team this winter. He had a lot of good friends on his team and he had some great coaches. They came up with their team name "Roadkill" on the way to one of their practices. I bet you can guess what they saw on the road. Here are some fun shots from the season:

McKay is number 13 and the tallest kid on his team. A lot of times he would go to the basket and receive a quick pass then lay it up in. (I make it sound so smooth, but needless to say, the basketball made it's way into the hoop several times.)

Not much of an action shot, but McKay had just shot the ball. He was shooting around with his friends after his game.

As good as McKay is, I can still beat him at pig and horse.

Pinewood Derby 2010

We had a lot to live up to with this year's Pinewood Derby since McKay took first place last year. Jaxon is a Cub Scout now along with McKay so we had two cars to design, cut, sand, prime, paint, apply decals and stickers and do test runs with. We can call the year a success--both cars did well and Jaxon's car took first place!

McKay placing his car on the track for his second heat. He was in lane three this race, which we found out later was not the fastest lane. He also raced his car backwards (because his weights were in the back of his car) and we later found out that because of the track set up, his car would have been faster if he had raced it forwards. Things we learned for next year.

My future Pinewood Derby Racer. Kayden dug through the diaper bag at the end of the races until he found two cars that he could race on the track.

Here is Jaxon with his first place car. See that shiny medal pinned to his chest? That is his first place medal! Jaxon painted his car black this year and then put some flame decals on the sides of his car. He also added a cow crossing sticker to the front and a 65 mph sticker to the top.

At the end of the night they let it be known that we are the family to beat. Two first place cars in two years. Way to go Jaxon and McKay! (We will also add in a "Way to go Dad!" as he was with the boys every step of the way and helped the boys with all aspects of their cars. Thanks Dad!)

Crazy Hair

One night we got silly after the kids took their baths and showers. We blew their hair dry and did some crazy hair-dos.

I dared McKay to wear his hair like that the next day to school for $3.00. He gave me an enthusiastic "OKAY!". I was out three dollars the next day.

As for Josh, his crazy hair lasted long enough to take this picture and then he insisted that we fix his hair so it wasn't spiky. The kid likes his hair looking nice, even for bed time.

A Day In the Life Of Josh

I was looking through my photos that haven't made it to our blog yet. These were too good to pass by. My sweet Joshua. Of course, these pictures aren't of just one day, but they are things that Josh does quite often, if not daily.

Here Josh is snuggling with our dog Suki. It doesn't get sweeter than this. (Say it with me now: "Ahhhhhh")

Here are some cute boys in the tub. Josh had a sleepover with his cousin Lachlan (left). The next morning we had a bubble bath and did spiky hair-dos.

Josh loves to help his dad. This was in November when they were putting up Christmas lights on the house. Josh thought it was pretty cool to be on the roof. Josh will also let you know when things need to get done. Come the end of February, he let his dad know that it was time to get on the roof again to get the lights off the house. I promise, I didn't put him up to it. But I was glad that he pointed it out.

Josh has a play group once a week and we rotate house. Here he and his friends created a "Wipe Out" course. They got the idea from a TV show they had seen. They had fun wiping out. I had fun watching them.

I took this one just the other day. I had to add it to this post. It shows his creativity. He took the Costco milk box and made himself a helmet. He drew pictures on it and wrote his name on it (in case he lost it in battle). Love this kid.

My Big Zap

So I have a zit. Quite a noticeable zit. My zit made it's way into prayers tonight.

Family Prayer: "Please bless mom's big bumpy thing that it will go away."
I explained to my boys that the "bumpy thing" is a zit.
So then came Josh's Prayer: "Please bless mom that her zap will go away."
Then we had the following conversation:
"Mom, what is a zap?" (Jaxon)
"It's called a zit." (Me) I then explained what a zit is and how it is formed.
"Will zits take over your body?" (Jaxon)
"No, if they try to take over your body, then you go to the doctor." (Me)
"So will I get zits?" (Jaxon)
"So sorry, but yes." (Me)
"Mom, I had a zipped at school once, but it went away before you came and picked me up. It was on a field trip" (Josh)

Pretty random and funny. It was worth having a zit just to be involved in the above conversation. Now hopefully some prayers will be answered and my blasted zap, I mean zipped, oops I really mean zit, will go away.

Puppet Show Time

Children's Dental Awareness Month has come and I have been out puppeteering. I was able to do four puppet shows this year--one of which was at my kids' school. Last year I was the puppeteer for Dudley Dinosaur, but this year I learned two new puppets. I was the puppeteer for either Dr. Fossilrock-- a paleontologist who travels back in time to study why dinosaurs have such healthy teeth, or Dr. Molar-- a dentist who magically appears to help one of our dinosaur friends who doesn't brush his teeth (Rocky the dinosaur thinks that breath mints are all he needs). This year we were even written up in the Daily Herald News Paper. I enjoyed all four puppet shows and also enjoyed getting to know other members of the Provo Dental Alliance.

Valentine's Day Parties

Oh I am behind in the times. I know Valentine's Day was a while ago, but I've been busy. My blog isn't getting the attention that it used to get. But I had to share the boys' school parties:

I wasn't invited to Jaxon's class party, but I went anyway. I had a good time watching him interact with the other kids in his class and I loved him showing off and having a good time. Here he is stacking conversation hearts to see how many high he could get. He was happy I took this picture when I did because right after his stack fell.

Jaxon's class made iPods for Valentine's. The iPod was a box of conversation hearts wrapped up to look like an iPod. The song list was a bunch of love songs. The ear phones were two Reese's Peanut Butter Cups wrapped in tin foil with string. Pretty cute and fun craft!

Since I am the room mom for McKay's class, I wasn't able to snap as many pictures. I had someone hurry and snap this one just as we were walking out the door. McKay made me the beautiful corsage on my wrist during his class party. We also made candy necklaces. McKay made his a little too short and it didn't quite fit over his head.
