Last Day of School 2019

Jaxon completed his Jr. year.  Doesn't he look thrilled?? His last day was Tuesday.  Jaxon got a job and went to work.

Just finished 8th grade and is ready to rule the roost next year as a 9th grader!  His last day was Wednesday.  Josh celebrated with his buddies.

Kayden completed 5th grade!  His last day was on Thursday.  He can't wait to go to 6th grade.

Kayden had a end of school party at our house on the evening of last day of school.  He also went to a Airborne Trampoline Park with a bunch of kids from his class on the last day of school.

The Great American Challenge

Kayden took it upon himself to complete the 5th Grade Great American Challenge.  He had to: write out the Pledge of Allegiance without any spelling or grammar errors, had to identify all the states on a map along with the oceans and neighboring countries, recite the Gettysburg Address from memory, recite in order all the presidents of the United States, sing or recite The Star Spangled Banner, and recite from memory the preamble of the United States Constitution.  It was a lot of hard work!

Memorial Day 2019

We are so blessed to have so many that have gone before us that have had such a positive impact on our lives.  We honored some of them this Memorial Day weekend.  It was a nice way to celebrate.

We visited Kaleb, our good friend that passed away almost a year ago.  We also visited Grandmas and Grandpas White, Haacke, Timothy and Culley.  We finished off our visits by going to see our sweet nephew and cousin Jimmer.

We took a picnic lunch and found a place to eat it while we were out and about.  And of course, Jaxon had to be a comedian while I was trying to take pictures at the cemetery (lower right corner).

STEM Project at School

Kayden's teacher did her best to keep teaching kids through the end of the year.  I got a text one morning from his teacher asking if I had some time to go and pick up some Pringles Chips for a project she wanted to do with Kayden's class.  I quickly obliged and was excited to see what they did with the chips.

The kids had to problem solve and engineer to figure out how to stack their chips like above.  Pretty awesome!

Dance Festival 2019

I've said it before and I will say it again:  I love watching my boys in the dance festival!  I know our dancing days are drawing to a close so I made sure I didn't miss Kayden's moves this year!  He and his class danced to Funky Town and Uptown Funk.

It was a chilly morning at the dance festival!

Just a couple of Kayden's moves:

The complete dance:

I say it was a complete success!

Hope of America 4.0

Each of the boys have had to opportunity to perform in the Hope of America at BYU.  This year was Kayden's turn.  Our last time attending a performance and it did not disappoint!

The traditional American Flag made up of 5th grade students all over Utah County.  Kayden and his class was a red stripe.  They were the second stripe from the bottom on the right side of the flag.

 Kayden and his buddy Josh.

Kayden with his class.  Can you see him?  He is the one turned talking to his friends.

Jaxon and Josh came to the performance.  After all, Kayden went to all of theirs!  Jaxon was doing his best to entertain himself and to not be grumpy about being there.

Kayden's Recognitions

Kayden has been recognized by his teacher at school, his PE teacher and also his karate school as being excellent!

The email I received from his PE teacher:

Emailing you to let you know how much I have enjoyed having Kayden in PE over the years.  He is very kind and respectful.  Willing to help.  Has the best sportsmanship and never give up attitude.  I wish I could have more students like Kayden.  Keep up the great work!

Josh's Eagle Recognition Night

Josh earned his Eagle Scout Rank a few months ago but wanted to wait for a couple of friends to get their Eagle to have an official Court of Honor and Recognition.

The traditional Eagle Statue award given to him by his Grandma and Grandpa Haacke.

At the Eagle ceremony with a real Eagle.

Josh, Ryan and Michael all received their Eagle and got to experience the real eagle.

Receiving the Eagle award, the pinning on of the mother's pin, and Josh gave his dad both the father's pin and the mentor pin.  Josh loved having his dad be his Scout Master.

 Proud Parent moment.

 Taking the Eagle Charge.

Kayden helped with the flag ceremony and looked very much the part.  It was a great night!

Reverence Please

Apparently our ward is having a reverence problem:

Josh was asked to wear this sign as he was performing his teacher duties at church.
