Hope of America (Take 2)

Our school district has a great tradition of having the elementary schools participating in the Hope of America program held each year.  When students are in fifth grade, they learn patriotic songs and then schools from all around the valley meet at the Marriott Center on BYU campus and they perform together.  McKay got to participate in it when he was in fifth grade.  Jaxon's fifth grade class was the first in our new school to participate in the Hope of America.  Hopefully it will become a tradition at our new school too.  This was our second time seeing the program and enjoyed it very much.  The program makes you appreciate and love our country all the more.  Here are a few highlights of the night:

Jaxon all dressed up and ready to perform.  I think he looks pretty smooth in those shades!

He sat with some boys from our neighborhood during the performance.

The students make up the flag by wearing different colored shirts.  Jaxon was in the middle section, third red stripe from the bottom.

Dancing and singing to America Rocks.

Shining their lights as they sang We Can Be a Light.  This song is definitely a highlight of the program for the kids and the audience.

Our old school performed the same night as our new school.  So Jaxon got to perform with his best friend Max.  He has known Max since before he can remember.  Max was one of the stars in the flag.  It was fun to see him and his family at the program.
